Flooring expansion joints cork strips When joining different types of materials such as wood with ceramic tiles, natural stone and carpeting or ceramic tiles and laminated panels, surface dilatation needs to be carefully prepared beforehand in the prepared dilatation gap.

Using two different materials where one of them is constantly working (i.e. wood) requires a dilatation gap. Cork expansion strips compensate the ‘work’ the floor is doing in places where it is more prone to surface skewing and deformation. To fill these gaps cork expansion joint filler is used, as it is not only an aesthetic way to finish the flooring, but also for a very important purpose – it takes over all the tension resulting from the floor working.

Cork joint sealants, due to their special construction, have great dilatational properties which make them a wonderful product for this type of usage. Cork that was used in the production of our strips is temperature, humidity and biodegradation resistant, has a high abrasion rate and, most importantly for our clients, it is a completely natural and ecological product.
 
Cork floor sealers can be cut with a usual wallpaper knife when installed. Cork expansion joint has to be placed in the dilatation gap in such a manner that the side that touches the surface was not bound with it. That is why the glue is applied only to the sides of the cork. After gluing the dilatation in the the gap it is worth finishing it with cork or wood protective laminate to protect it from dirt and water.
